The NPD Group, Inc. Announces the Promotions of Lori Monaco and Steve Romei

PORT WASHINGTON, NEW YORK, November 26, 2006The NPD Group, Inc., leading provider of consumer and retail information, announced the promotions of Lori Monaco and Steve Romei each to vice president.

Lori Monaco has been named vice president & general manager, Footwear and Sports Apparel.  Most recently Monaco was the director of this group.  Under her leadership, NPD has launched a variety of new products, including a footwear shoe chain channel, a new weekly footwear service, and a men's POS active apparel service tracking the sporting goods channel, scheduled to launch this winter. Monaco is a recipient of NPD’s Award for Excellence.

“Lori has demonstrated a commitment to client satisfaction and growth.  Her leadership skills have been instrumental in paving the way for new business opportunities,” said NPD President and Chief Operating Officer Karyn Schoenbart. 

Monaco has an extensive research and strategy background that includes positions at Young & Rubicam, ACNielsen, and Kraft Foods.

Steve Romei has been named vice president, Research Sciences.  Romei began his tenure at The NPD Group in 1998. Since then, he has played key roles in developing the research infrastructure for a number of high-level NPD initiatives. Most notably, Romei is a recipient of The NPD Group’s John Byington Award, an annual award given to an employee whose creativity and innovation most exemplifies the award’s namesake.

“Along with Steve’s advanced quantitative skills, he brings real-world business knowledge.  That unique skill set infuses the information we deliver to our clients with the most valuable insights.”  said Schoenbart. Prior to joining NPD, Romei held positions at IRI, Yankelovich Partners, Management Sciences Associates, and Applied Information for Marketing.
