The NPD Group today announced that it has expanded its Retail Tracking Service to provide insight into the U.S. replacement tires market. Data includes passenger car and light truck, ATV/UTV, heavy-duty and commercial, and trailer tires, spanning sales within the mass, warehouse club, and e-commerce channels. 

“NPD’s point-of-sale replacement tires data tracks sales within retail outlets that have, until now, been a white space for tire brands and manufacturers, but are increasingly important,” said Steve Flavin, President, Automotive Aftermarket practice, The NPD Group. “In today’s competitive and ever-changing retail environment, brands and manufacturers need to see the bigger picture and understand any gaps, to make actionable and fact-based decisions when it comes to pricing, product development, assortment, distribution, and sales.”

The addition of replacement tires builds on NPD’s existing automotive aftermarket coverage within the accessories and appearance; chemicals, additives, and fluids; and maintenance and repair categories – tracking retail sales happening at more than 25,000 locations ranging from auto parts stores to mass chains.
