February 2021 – The NPD Group, a global provider of information and advisory services, today announced that Edurne Uranga has joined the company as Head of Foodservice Spain. She will lead the team as it continues to offer essential data, industry expertise and analytics to an industry facing the challenges and opportunities presented by COVID-19 worldwide.
The new Head of Foodservice Spain has more than 18 years’ experience in market research, specialising in the food and beverage industry. Prior to joining NPD, Edurne Uranga was Consumer Insight Director at Kantar Worldpanel. Before that, she was responsible for the management and development of large accounts at Nielsen, where she worked for more than a decade. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, an MBA from CESMA Business School, and a Masters in Digital Business from ESADE Business School.
In her new role, she reports to Maria Vanifatova, Head of Foodservice Europe. “Edurne has extensive experience in providing analysis and insights to the foodservice market. We are delighted to have someone of her calibre and industry knowledge lead the team in Spain” said Vanifatova.
“I am excited to join a company with the reputation of The NPD Group, a market leader for foodservice operators worldwide. I’m looking forward to collaborating with industry leaders as we strive to promote a rapid recovery for out of home food consumption” said Uranga. “According to NPD, Spain’s foodservice industry saw sales top 21,860 million euros in 2020, a decline of -41%. But consumers are keen to return to eating out as soon as the restrictions allow. A glaring example of this is summer 2020, where almost 75% of traffic recovered when most of the limitations were ended. NPD’s first-class teams and services will help foodservice clients navigate these tumultuous times and convert any short-term losses into long-term gain.”
