Acquisition Strengthens NPD as Global Leader in Toys Industry Market Research
Port Washington, NY, October 31, 2016 - The NPD Group, a global provider of information and advisory services, today announced that it has acquired Brazil-based Sim2M point-of-sale Toys panel. Sim2M is a South American leader in market research for the toys industry. The acquisition by NPD’s Brazilian subsidiary, NPD Brasil Market Research Services Ltda., expands NPD’s global footprint, reinforcing its position as the preeminent provider of toys industry market research.
NPD also announced today the opening of a new facility in Brazil, located at LWM Corporate Center in Sao Paulo. The company now has 25 offices worldwide.
Jose Guedes , President of The NPD Group’s business in Brazil, said, “I look forward to opening our doors in Brazil, and serving the burgeoning demand for reliable, actionable market research in South America. We are excited that our portfolio of solutions now includes Sim2M’s retail sales data. This combined with the expertise, resources, and capabilities of NPD will help to deliver the most reliable insights available on the market today.”
NPD’s primary focus in the coming year will be to build upon the toys business and its existing sports industry consumer panel, which has been active in Brazil since 2010. In the near future, the company is planning to launch tracking services in other industries in Brazil, including video games, sporting goods, and automotive aftermarket.
“With this acquisition, NPD gains an expanded source of leading market research and consumer insights into one of the toy industry’s most important global markets,” said Karyn Schoenbart, President and Chief Operating Officer, The NPD Group. “The integration of Sim2M’s assets into NPD’s existing infrastructure will provide clients with enhanced resources while broadening NPD’s geographic footprint and global customer base.”
NPD began tracking toys in 1988, and is the industry’s leading source of retail sales data and consumer insights on the global toys market.
During a transition period while NPD Brasil consolidates operations and builds upon the toys business, Sim2M will continue to perform data processing on NPD’s behalf, while maintaining the same level of client service and confidentiality. If you have any questions about this article, contact us.
