"Black Friday week dollars increased for more than half of the small appliance segments tracked by NPD this year. Overall, home environment was the dollar winner with a four percent increase, while personal care appliances gained four percent in unit sales, and small kitchen electrics dollars remained flat despite small unit declines,” said Debra Mednick, executive director of The NPD Group’s home business.

- Home soda machines more than doubled in sales versus 2011 Black Friday Week sales.
- Chocolate fountains saw the largest increase of all small appliance segments during the 2012 Black Friday week, compared to last year.
- Stick vacuums, blender/mixer/chopper systems, juice extractors, robotic vacuums, and vacuum sealers were all among the top growth segments with notable double or triple-digit increases.
