Today marks the start of the track and field events at the Olympics in Rio. And that has the Checkout team particularly excited.
Swimming and diving and gymnastics are all wonderful. And we love those sports too. But those activities don’t require specialized footwear. Performance shoes, you see, are one of the countless items we track.

- Performance shoe buyers give Zappos 17% of their performance shoe spend, but 20% of their total shoe spend.
- The top brands of performance shoes by spend are Nike, Asics, and New Balance.
- More than 60 percent of the online spend specifically on track-and-field shoes goes to just three retailers.
